Senior Security Researcher

Chris brings deep expertise in hardware and firmware reverse engineering to Crystal Peak. He specializes in extracting secrets from devices, analyzing debug interfaces like JTAG, and understanding how embedded systems behave at their lowest levels. His methodical approach to hardware security research gives our team the ability to achieve world class depth of analysis.

Rich Knepprath

Creative Director

Rich is a creative director with over 26 years of experience shaping digital products, experiences, and brands. He brings a hacker’s mindset to design — questioning assumptions, interrogating systems, and finding unconventional paths to clarity. At Crystal Peak, Rich leads brand and creative strategy, guiding the company’s visual identity, narrative, and positioning. Guided by the same late-night curiosity that drives a hacker, Rich also creates album artwork and hand-drawn concert posters for international rock bands through his side project; Anonymous Ink & Idea.

Trey Keown

Principal Security Researcher

Trey is a security researcher specializing in embedded device security and firmware reverse engineering. He's the co-creator of an ATM capture-the-flag challenge that has run at DEF CON, Re:con, CSAW, and Hushcon, and has his research accepted at HITB Amsterdam. Trey's flexiblity and curiosity gives our team the breadth to tackle a wide variety of problem sets.
